CANCELED: Hillsborough Commissioners look at Internet Sweepstakes Cafes

Tampa, FL -- At the request of Commissioner Murman, the workshop scheduled for Oct. 11 is canceled, according to the county. The Oct. 19 hearing is postponed. The county says they will provide an update when the meetings have been rescheduled.

Original release: Hillsborough County Commissioners will hold a workshop on Internet Sweepstakes Cafes on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Boardroom of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

This work shop will take place immediately following the BOCC Land Use Meeting - afternoon session.

Tampa, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for the Enforcement of Burglar False Alarms and Natural Resources is scheduled to meet Monday, Oct. 10 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Boardroom of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

The Special Magistrate is authorized to hear violations concerning all codes and ordinances of Hillsborough County in order to maintain health and safety standards.

Affordable Housing Advisory Board to meet

Tampa, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Advisory Board will meet on Monday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., in Conference Room B on the 26th Floor of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., in downtown Tampa.

The purpose of the Affordable Housing Advisory Board is to advise and make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners and Affordable Housing Officer on issues affecting housing development.

A special AHAB Sub-Committee meeting is not scheduled to follow the October meeting.

Attorney General to speak in downtown Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will be the featured speaker at the 21st Mabel H. Baxley Gift of Peace Breakfast.

The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa.

The event is a benefit for the Spring of Tampa Bay which provides shelter for abused women and their children. Mabel Baxley was the long time director of the agency.

Rallies to Save America's Post Offices

Hillsborough County, FL -- On Sept. 27, rallies will be held at every Congressional District office nationwide to inform the public about the issues surrounding the U.S. Postal Service.

The rallies, from 4 - 5:30 p.m., will inform the public about the actual financial situation at the U.S. Postal Service and what's at stake for residents and businesses throughout the districts and to explain how the problems can be resolved, including supporting H.R. 1351.

The two offices in Hillsborough County that will be affected are Representative Kathy Castor, 4144 N. Armenia Ave. in Tampa and Representative Gus Bilirakis, 110 W. Reynolds St. in Plant City.

Code Enforcement holds hearings on water violations

Tampa, FL -- The Hillsborough County Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for Water Resource Services is scheduled to meet Monday, Sept. 19 at 9 a.m. in the 2nd Floor Boardroom at County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

The Special Magistrate is authorized to hear violations concerning all codes and ordinances of Hillsborough County in order to maintain health and safety standards.

Any person who decides to appeal the decision of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate with respect to any matter considered at this meeting will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purposes, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.  An appeal must be filed within thirty (30) days after the execution of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate's Order.
