Commissioners seek applications for citizen boards and councils

Hillsborough County, Florida -- Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking residents to serve on several County citizen advisory boards and councils. Residents interested in seeking appointment must be registered voters in Hillsborough County. These are voluntary positions, and members serve without compensation. Applicants may apply to more than one board, but may only serve on one board at a time. All applicants must submit the Standards of Conduct form along with their application.

Hillsborough Human Relations board to meet

Tampa, Florida --The Hillsborough County Human Relations Board which reviews complaints filed under the County Human Relations Ordinance meets at 12 p.m. Tuesday May 14 at County Center.

The meeting will be on the 26th Floor of County Center, in Conference Room B.

County Center is located at 601 E. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

Special magistrate for false burglar alarms to hear cases

Tampa, Florida--If you have been cited for a false burglar alarm in Hillsborough County you can make your case to Code Enforcement Special Magistrate for Burglar False Alarms and Natural Resources. at 9 am Monday May 6th in the 2nd Floor Boardroom of County Center .

If you want to appeal any decision by the Special Magistrate you'll need a reconrd of the hearing and may need to insure a verbatim record is made.

An appeal has to be scheduled within 30 days after the Magistrate's order.

Hillsborough County seeks public feedback on its Draft Strategic Plan

Hillsborough County, Florida -- After three months of public input and five months of planning workshops, research and retreats, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has created their draft Strategic Plan for the County.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft Strategic Plan and give their comments on the Plan through the Strategic Plan blog, via email or phone by May 14. The County Commission will take their final vote on the Plan at their regular Board meeting on May 15.

The Committee on Status of Women meets Tuesday in Downtown

Tampa, Florida-- The Commission on the Status of Women is holding it's April meeting from 10 a.m. to 11:30 this coming Tuesday April 23rd on the 26th Floor of the County Center in Conference Room b.

The Committee on the Status of Women, also known as COSW, serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners on matters pertaining to the status of women.

Land Use Appeal Board to meet in downtown Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- If you are unhappy with decisions of the Land Use Hearing Officer on special use permits and variances from zoning regulations in Hillsborough County, you have an opportunity to appeal it.

The Hillsborough County Land Use Appeal Board is meeting at 1 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 8 in the 2nd Floor Board Room of County Center.

County Center is located at 601 East. Kennedy Blvd. in downtown Tampa.

Animal Advisory Task force tries to minimize euthanasia

Tampa, Florida -- If you are concerned with minimizing animal euthanasia, you will want to be at the next animal advisory task force meeting.

The task force is going to try to figure out a financially feasible plan to cut down on the amount of animals that are euthanized by the County animal shelter, and part of the meeting is going to be opened for public comment.

The task force will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 in Conference Rooms A and B on the 26th floor of the County Center. The County Center is located at 601 East Kennedy Blvd in downtown Tampa.
