Tampa, Florida-- After three years of waiting, Kevin and JoAnne McCall finally received the news that a suspect is behind bars and accused of murdering their son.
Tampa police say 22-year-old David Earl Williams robbed and killed University of Tampa student, Ryan McCall, back in 2009.
Investigators say Williams is a career criminal. He is already behind bars doing time on a burglary charge in Dade County.
He's been in and out of the system since the age of 11. Detectives say he killed McCall just 27 days after serving time in Jackson County.
McCall and a friend were attacked while walking home from a birthday party.
At their home in Holiday, FL, Ryan's parents discussed how the suspect shattered their lives back on August 19, 2009, and how the news of an arrest, still does not bring them any peace.
Ryan's parents say while they continue to feel the pain of their horrible loss everyday, they have nothing to say to the suspect.
The McCalls expressed that this day is not about jubilation, and that even though a suspect has been found, they want to avoid looking too far forward, and bringing on further frustrations.
Instead, the family chooses to focus on Ryan's Run in honor of their son, who at 21-years-old, was a track star on academic scholarship at the University of Tampa.
Ryan's Run is an event that will raise scholarship money for high school students in Hillsborough County.
