Winn Dixie: Voluntary recall in Central and South Florida stores | Health

Central and South Florida-- Winn-Dixie announced an immediate voluntary recall of select cut fruit produced by the Renaissance Food Group Friday. 

The recall, taking place in Central and South Florida Winn Dixie stores only, serves as a precaution because the prodcuts contain a mango ingredient that has the potential of being contaminated with Salmonella braenderup, Winn Dixie representatives said in a release. 

The products with Daniella Brand Mangoes distributed by Splendid Products are a part of the recall. They are as follows:

• Garden Highway-brand Tropical Salsa
• Fruit Burst cut fruit sold under the Winn Dixie name
• Island Medley cut fruit sold under the Winn Dixie name

The recalled products will have a plant number of P-009 on the product label, which Winn Dixie representatives say should be located to the left of the universal product code (UPC). 

Winn-Dixie has received no reports of any issues associated with consumption of the cut fruit products, but have recalled the products from the following counties "out of an abundance of caution for its customers":

• Broward
• Charlotte
• Collier
• DeSoto
• Flagler
• Hardee
• Hendry
• Hernando
• Highlands
• Hillsborough
• Indian River
• Lake
• Lee
• Manatee
• Marion
• Martin
• Miami-Dade
• Monroe
• Okeechobee
• Orange
• Osceola
• Palm Beach
• Pasco
• Pinellas
• Polk
• Saint Lucie
• Sarasota
• Seminole
• Sumter
• Volusia

Winn Dixie representatives encourage any customers in possession of any of the recalled items to immediately throw them out or take them back to the store.

“Guests who have purchased the products may visit their neighborhood Winn-Dixie to request a full refund, no questions asked," said Brian Wright, Winn-Dixie’s senior director of communications.

To receive the refund, present your proof of purchase through a receipt or the product packaging label.
