Foul languarge and threats part of Channelside negotiations

Tampa, Florida -- More problems are arising between the Tampa Port Authority and the  Liberty Group that wants to develop Channelside  in downtown Tampa. The  Port owns the land Channelside is on.

Wednesday news leaked that the Port was asking the group to put up $10 million dollars for renovations to Channelside in order to consider forgiving the million dollars in debts by the former developer.

The Liberty Group offered to put up $2 million and the port said that was unacceptable.

Hillsborough County Commissioner, Kevin Beckner, to hold monthly office

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Commissioner Kevin Beckner, District 6, Countywide, is hosting office hours in the community one Wednesday every month for the rest of the year.

According to the commissioner, the office hours will take place in various spots around the county to give residents a chance to meet with him one-on-one and  share ideas and/or  voice concerns without having to travel to County Center in downtown Tampa.

No appointment is necessary and residents are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Clearwater, Florida -- From May 12 to May 18, people will have access to job opportunities through an online job fair targeting job seekers ages 14 to 24. 

The hiring event will span a four-county radius including Manatee, Sarasota, Hillsborough and Pinellas. 

“The virtual job fair is an opportunity to connect youth with employment so that they may gain the skills and experience necessary to become successful future members of the workforce,” said Edward Peachey, President and CEO of the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance and WorkNet Pinellas.

Tampa real estate booming; leads state

Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

Tampa, Florida-- Members of the Working Women of Tampa Bay and NuBarter Tampa are teaming up to host a hootenanny that promises good ol' country-style fun, and benefits for businesses too! 

The event is set for Tuesday, April 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Winthrop barn Theatre in Riverview.

Organizers say to throw on some cowboy boots and get ready for a night filled with entertainment, dancing and networking with various vendors. Food and drinks will be available too!
