This winter cold snap must be getting you in the mood for winter. The cold season (relatively speaking) is on its way, just in time for An Evening of Winter Shorts.

Students from the Patel Conservatory’s high school, college and adult theater classes have been working hard to perfect short theatrical pieces that they’ll perform for you – a live audience - on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. in the TECO Theater at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

Waive registration with tax deductible donation

Waive registration with tax deductible donation

Did you know that when you register for a class at the Patel Conservatory, you can waive the registration fee if you make a tax deductible $100 or more donation to the non-profit Straz Center for the Performing Arts?

I did this when I registered my son for Rock and Roll camp and found it to be a great deal. If you itemize your taxes, it’s nice to be able to include the donation on your report come April. And even more important, you feel good knowing you’re supporting a good cause.

Another perk is that with that membership, you get benefits!

Have you noticed the Christmas decorations for sale at CVS and Walgreens? If you think it’s a bit early for that, you’re not alone.

It’s not too early, however, for our local singers and musicians to be rehearsing holiday favorites in preparation for the Patel Conservatory’s Fall Vocal Arts Concert, which will feature beautiful holiday music.

The concert will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 in the TECO Theater at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts.
