Tampa, Florida -- Tampa detectives have charged a man already accused of killing four men -- including two police officers -- with a fifth murder.
Dontae Morris is charged with shooting and killing 42-year-old Rodney Jones as the victim left the Cotton Club on May 31, 2010.
Morris was allegedly one of two men who approached Jones early that morning and demanded money. Jones was then shot and killed.
Detectives identified Morris as the gunman through text messages and witness statements. The arrest of the second suspect involved is pending.
Morris is believed to have committed a deadly crime spree through May and June of 2010. He is accused of shooting Derek Anderson on May 18, and also killing Harold Wright on June 8. The motive for both murders is robbery.
On June 29, Morris allegedly shot and killed Tampa Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab during a traffic stop on June 29. He was apprehended a week later.
Morris is scheduled to be arraigned on the latest charges on January 28.
