Black tie gala for Tampa Museum of Art

The Tampa Museum of Art is hosting a black tie gala to benefit the museum's exhibitions and educational programs.

Pavilion XXVI will be held Saturday, Nov. 5 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the museum.

Co-Chairs Allison Adams and Renu Parker are planning a night of cocktails, dinner and dancing.

Former SNL star performs at Tampa Improv this weekend

Tampa, FL - Former Saturday Night Live star Kevin Nealson will be performing at the Tampa Improv this weekend. Nealon, who has also starred in Showtime's critically acclaimed series Weeds, will perform tonight and tomorrow night.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. while Saturday's shows are set for 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Nealson, who appeared earlier today on Studio 10, also has a number of Hollywood movies to his credit including The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore and You Don't Mess with the Zohan.

Troubled Club Empire closes

Tampa, Florida -- Troubled Ybor City night spot Club Empire has closed. The announcement came Thursday morning as city council members were scheduled to hear about what steps they might be able to take to force the venue to shut its doors.

"On behalf of the Empire Club, I'm here to announce that the club has officially closed its doors after 18 years of business," John Brewer told council members.

Two charged in multi-county real estate scam

Tallahassee, FL -- Two men were arrested Thursday for their part in a real estate scam agencies say spanned at least five Tampa area counties in the past three years.
