Strong storms knock trees onto houses

Storms continue to push south across , Polk, Highlands, Hardee, Desoto and Sarasota counties.

There have been numerous reports of hail stemming from these storms, and 10 News has learned of trees falling on houses in Seffner and in Zephyrhills. There's no word on any injuries at this time.

Changes coming to Tampa's skyline; 153 stories in the works

Tampa, Florida -- The skyline of Downtown Tampa is growing by 153 floors. 10 News has reviewed the documents and plans calling for that many new buildings and renovations.

The area's adding enough stories to fill one and a half Empire State Buildings.

It's offices; shopping; and just under 3,000 apartment, hotel, and condo units. All of it bound for Tampa's Downtown.

To open the flagship showroom and corporate headquarters for the C.I. Group, Manny Bhuller and Drew Marshall could have picked anywhere in the Southeast.

Florida city abuzz: Who among us won Powerball jackpot?

USA- Today --The Florida sun was shining a little bit brighter Sunday on an unidentified person who beat odds of 175 million-to-1 on a Powerball ticket worth $590.5 million, the largest jackpot in the game's history.

The lucky numbers in Saturday night's drawing were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11. A mob of media and the curious amassed Sunday outside the Zephyr Commons Publix supermarket, in the Tampa suburb of Zephyrhills, where the winning ticket was sold.

Tampa, Florida -- The Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra will present its spring concert on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in the TECO Theater at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

Under the batons of Principal Conductor Stephen P. Brown and Associate Conductor Catherine Michelsen, the acclaimed Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra will present great music from the classics to modern.

The concert will begin with a performance by Suzuki violin students, followed by the Intermezzo Orchestra performing several selections, including “Contredanse” by Larry Clark.

Commissioners seek applications for citizen boards and councils

Hillsborough County, Florida -- Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking residents to serve on several County citizen advisory boards and councils. Residents interested in seeking appointment must be registered voters in Hillsborough County. These are voluntary positions, and members serve without compensation. Applicants may apply to more than one board, but may only serve on one board at a time. All applicants must submit the Standards of Conduct form along with their application.

Police investigating homicide of foreign citizen

Tampa, Florida -- Police are investigating a homicide in the 4800 Block of North 30th Street in Tampa. 

According to reports the victim appears to be a foreign citizen although it is unclear what his country of origin is.
